Lubbers & Sons Tree Care

Expert Tree Care Service in Fearrington, North Carolina

Q: Are Lubbers and Sons tree care services available to Fearrington Village residents?

Yes — Fearrington Village and the surrounding Chatham County area are a regular part of our service territory. We provide professional tree care services for residential properties throughout the community, including structural and maintenance pruning, tree removal, stump grinding, cabling and bracing, deep root fertilization, and plant health care programs designed to keep established trees healthy and thriving. Visit lubbersandsons.com to learn more or schedule a service visit.

Q: The trees in Fearrington Village are part of what makes the community so distinctive — what kind of ongoing care do mature landscape trees actually need?

Mature landscape trees require a fundamentally different care approach than newly planted trees or trees in a natural forest setting. They have decades of structural development that may include weaknesses, past wounds, or competing leaders that need periodic attention to prevent future problems. Their root systems interact with turf, irrigation, hardscape, and nearby structures in ways that can create stress over time. Regular maintenance pruning — removing deadwood, addressing structural concerns before they become hazardous, and maintaining appropriate clearances — is the cornerstone of a long-term care program. Periodic soil health assessments and targeted fertility treatments address the nutrient limitations that mature trees in managed landscapes often face. Fearrington's landscape character is built around its tree canopy, and maintaining it well requires consistent, expert attention rather than reactive intervention after problems develop.

Q: Something looks off with one of my trees but I can't pinpoint exactly what it is — is that enough reason to call?

Absolutely — and in many ways, a vague sense that something isn't right is exactly the kind of observation that benefits most from professional evaluation. Trees communicate stress and developing problems through subtle changes that are easy to dismiss individually but meaningful in combination — slightly reduced leaf size, a change in foliage color or texture, a section of crown that isn't leafing out as fully as it used to. These early signals often precede more obvious symptoms by a season or two, and catching them at this stage opens up more options than waiting until decline is unmistakable. We would rather conduct an evaluation that finds nothing concerning than have a Fearrington homeowner wait until a recoverable situation becomes an irreversible one.

Q: How are tree care service quotes structured and what influences the final price?

Every quote we provide reflects the specific scope of work for that property — there is no standard pricing applied uniformly regardless of what the job involves. For pruning, the primary cost drivers are the size and height of the tree, the amount and nature of the material being removed, access for equipment, and the proximity of the work to structures or utilities. Removal pricing accounts for similar factors plus the complexity of the takedown sequence and stump disposition. Plant health care programs are priced by the number and species of trees enrolled and the treatment protocol required. We provide written quotes before any work begins so Fearrington homeowners know exactly what they are agreeing to before we start.

Q: What is the right approach to caring for trees that are growing near Fearrington's walking paths and shared community spaces?

Trees adjacent to paths, gathering areas, and shared spaces carry a higher standard of care than trees in a remote corner of the property — the consequence of a failure is greater because people are regularly in the potential impact zone. For these trees, structural assessments should be part of a routine care cycle rather than a response to visible problems, and any identified structural concerns should be addressed promptly. Clearance pruning to maintain safe overhead clearance for pedestrians, removal of deadwood that could drop onto a path, and monitoring for root heaving that creates trip hazards along walking surfaces are all practical components of a responsible care program for these high-traffic locations. We work with Fearrington residents and property managers on tree care plans for community-adjacent trees that reflect the elevated responsibility their position creates.

Tree Care Service in Fearrington, North Carolina: Key Considerations

Maintaining a healthy landscape in one of Chatham County’s most distinctive communities requires more than just a chainsaw and a truck. It demands a deep understanding of Fearrington’s unique character, from its carefully preserved open spaces and village setting to the community’s strong emphasis on aesthetics and land stewardship.

Here are a few of the things a locally owned tree-care partner can help you with:

Working Within HOA and Community Guidelines

Fearrington’s community standards place a strong emphasis on maintaining the area’s natural beauty and cohesive appearance. We help you navigate approval processes for removals and pruning, ensuring your project aligns with established guidelines and avoids unnecessary delays.

Preserving a Curated, Natural Aesthetic

Trees in Fearrington are often managed with both health and appearance in mind, balancing natural form with the community’s manicured, pastoral feel. Our team provides careful pruning and long-term care strategies that enhance both structural integrity and visual appeal.

Managing Mature Trees in Open Landscapes

Many properties feature mature hardwoods growing in open settings, where they are exposed to wind and weather stress. We provide proactive assessments and strategic pruning to reduce failure risk and help these trees remain stable and healthy over time.

We’ve been providing unmatched tree-care services in the Fearrington area since 2020, and we’d love to provide the care your trees need.

The Lubbers & Sons Tree Care Philosophy

Lubbers & Sons Tree Care takes a different approach than many of the other tree-service companies operating in Central North Carolina. We measure success by the number of clients we help and trees we save rather than the number we remove.

In fact, when you trust the Lubbers & Sons Tree Care team, you’ll immediately notice our commitment to:

SAFETY: We begin every project with a comprehensive safety briefing, follow ANSI Z133 standards, and take all steps needed to protect our clients, our crew, and the properties we’re working on.
EDUCATION: We take the time to educate our clients so they can make informed decisions, while also acquiring the ISA certifications and ongoing training needed to leverage cutting-edge arboricultural advancements.
SERVICE: We avoid the one-size-fits-all approach that many other tree services employ and instead develop a custom plan that achieves your goals while also addressing any unusual challenges the job presents.
AUTHENTICITY: Despite coming from a variety of backgrounds and taking different routes to the tree-care industry, every member of the Lubbers & Sons Tree Care team shares a true passion for trees.
CONSERVATION: We strive to retain every tree possible and support broader ecosystem health through our invasive-species removal services and focus on selecting native species for planting projects.

“Whether you’re in Fearrington or anywhere else in Central North Carolina, it’s important to work with a locally owned and operated tree-care provider who understands the community’s canopy and relevant permitting regulations.”

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had an amazing experience with Lubber and Sons. There was a fire in our backyard and we needed help taking down several trees fairly quickly. The team was quick to respond and easy to communicate with. They were thoughtful and detailed in deciding what needed to happen right away and were clear about, and stuck to, their timelines. I never felt pushed or coerced into something I was not comfortable with or did not understand.

We've since used them to also asses the backyard of a house in an RCD zone and they were super helpful and knowledgeable. It was nice to work with tree people who were not rushing to take down every tree possible!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Great experience from start to finish. We had Lubbers help us with some complicated tree removals and a lot of pruning and trimming around our house in a forresty part of chapel hill. They helped us navigate compromises on 2 dying trees that we didn't want to remove or leave to endanger our house as they met the end of their lives, and removed several others. The whole crew demonstrated expert skills and deep knowledge. Their communication and ability to work with our neighbors made made the project so much smoother. We will definitely use them for our tree needs in the future.
